A Clinical Study of 168 Cases of Uterine Prolapse

Abstract
Since the wide spread application of medical insurance system, there had been increase admission rate of uterine prolapse This clinical and statistical study was attempted to analyze 168 cases of uterine prolapse at the Department of obstetrics &
Gynecology, Il Sin Christian hospital during the period from Jan. 1981 to Dec. 1991.
@ES The results are as follows:
@EN 1. The highest groups of age distribution at the time of operation was 50~59 years(40.4%) and the mean age was 57.1 years old.
2. The age distribution at the time of development of uterine prolapse showed that 56 cases(33.3%) were 20 to 29 years, 36 to 39 years and mean age was 37.9 years.
3. The parity showed that 141 cases(78%) was over 4.
4. 82 cases (48.8%) was those cases who had suffered from the uterine prolapse for more than 20 years and mean duration was 18.5 years.
5. All cases had been experienced the home delivery.
6. The highest group of the degree of uterine prolapse was the 3rd degree(77.4%).
7. In 23 cases out of 168 cases(13.7%), previous treatment such as chemical cauterization was done.
8. The voiding difficulty was the most common symptom936.3%) and polapsed mass as the next common symptom(32.1%).
9. All cases were treated by the total vaginal hysterectomy with either anterior & posterior repairs.
10. The mean amount of blood loss was 537cc.
11. The indwelling Foley catheter was kept average 7 days in 109 cases(64.9%).
12. The occurance of cervical malignanay was noted 2 cases(1.2%).
13. The Postoperative complications were the fever in 22 cases(13.1%), UTI & voiding difficulty in 31 cases(18.4%).
